The tittle refers to a precipitating incident in the life of ‘Nongoloza’ Mathebula,the founder of the ‘Regiment of the Hills’.In 1886,at the age of 19,he was held responsible for a strayed horse by his employer,a farmer in the Harrismith district.Mathebula’s resentment set him on a road that led him to the mining camp of Johannesburg and a criminal career of epic proportions.
