Sir Walter Ernest Mortimer Stanford (1854-1933) official and politician,as Bantu administrater descended on both sides from 1820 settlers,educated at the Lovedale Mission Station.Showing gifts in dealing with non-white races,was appointed agent to the Tambuki tribe,served as a Captain in the Galeka war of 1877-78,saw service in the second Boer War,and was an appointed member of the native laws and customs commision. This is a 2 vol. set,unfortuneatly vol.1 is not with me.

H/b boards affected by damp pickling to both faces and spine,corners slightly bumped and spine ends bruised ,no d/w.Size 9×6 pp XI+270 inc. index,sources quoted and consulted,appendix,plates as reproduced b/w photographic prints mainly of portaites inc. frontispiece,page map,and cartoons.Hinges strong.Binding good to firm.No foxing or staining,very slightly age-browned.Otherwise internally nice and clean throughout.
