This book entitled “The Red Soldier”is the dedecated work of Frank Emery,who joined the army in 1948 as a conscript soldier at Brecon,the home of the famous regiment 24th foot South Wales Borderers.It is based on the evidence from the many letters that were sent home by the “Red Soldiers”during the war in Zululand.The incidence of the various manuvers,and battles are described here in the men in the field give true evidence of how life was during that tyerible war,that can only be decribed as a foolish and rash decision.
