This book has been selected as the first volume in the Rhodesiana Reprint library,as a tribute to the painstaking pre-pioneer exploration work carried out by Thomas Baines,in the country which is now Rhodesia,and is based on his engagement by a company in Britain to investegate the newly discovered Tati and “Matabili land” gold fields and this prospecting work which extended as far north as Hartley Hill.



H/b in nice clean decorated boards,in an illustrated d/w with some edge and corner wear,and some slight chipping.Size 9×6 pp XXIV+240,inc a facsimili copy of a letter from Dr. Livingstone to Thomas Baines in 1858,some advertisements,itinerary,some lithographic prints as chapter headers and in text with some sepia plates,inc frontispiece as a portrate of Thomas Baines.Hinges strong.Binding tight (suggest unread) No foxing,staining or browning.There is a persons name clumsily written on the outside leading edge.Otherwise clean and bright throughout;
