The very title of this little book describes its contents, and its purpose. Not as a dictionary but rather a guide to the student of languages,as the “Fist Steps in Zulu” being an elementary grammar exercise of the Zulu language.Compiled by the Right Rev.J. W. Colenso, then Bishop of Natal,it is meant as a guide to the understanding of the “pure” Zulu toungue as spoken by the original Zulu people,in the period when the people were of pure stock, before their language became influenced by other Bantu dialects.
