The Ballad of Dick King. And other poems.

Reading snippits of the opening memoir of Dr.Christian Louis Leipoldt, and also from the introduction of this work,I can only draw the conclusion that he was a poet and collector of some repute in South African lierature. The tittle of this work states “Ballad of Dick King”,which is the opening poem,it seems to me that he chose this story to coincide with the pseudonym”Pheippides”,the name of the Greek hero, who ran all the way from Athens to Sparta to seek aid during the Persian invation of Greece. For the lover of poetry.Somethig different.
