My African Encyclopedia describes them,the Cape Coloured People,of mixed ancestry (European,Khoisan,and asian,with a Muslim minority.Most live in the cities and towns of the Cape Province.Known as Malays having originated from Malaya,and the East Indies,brought to Africa as slaves by the Dutch East india Company,first recorded in 1667,This book is a collection of colourful stories,or ‘tales’describing their colourful way of life,plus the majic and beauty they contribute to the Cape.

H/b in the original printed boards,basicaly clean but with a much faded spine, and bruised corners,no d/w.Size 9×7 pp 202,inc,glossary.No plates as such, but many two-toned decorations and chapter first letter designs by Nernine Desmond,that includes a lovely coloured frontispiece.Both front and back p/d’s and f/ep’s decorated.Front hinges beginning to crack.Binding tight (suggest unread)Some foxing and staining to prelims and end papers,and on outer face edges,only visible when closed.Otherwise nice and clean internally. A fair–v/g++clean copy.
