The author of this book.Elsa Goodwin Green,as a trained nurse,served in South Africa and was involved in two of the most dramatic events in southern Africa in the middle of the 1890s.In her profesion,she nursed and comforted those fighters involved in the Jameson Raid at the end of December 1895,and at the outbreak of the Matabele and Mashona Rebellions in 1896.Interested in all that went on around her,she graphicaly describes the major campaigns in Mashonaland,and the disaster of the Mazoe patrol.An amazing woman,this is her story.
