One Man’s Hand

The man to follow in the footsteps of first Jameson, and also Cecil Rhodes was Sir Charles Patrick John Coughlan, born 1863-1927 died aged 64, and was buried along with Jameson and Rhodes at the World’s View in the Matopos Hills. When Rhodesia failed to enter the Union of South Africa, it was he who campaigned for securing self-government for Rhodesia. This was granted in 1923, and he was made the country’s first Prime Minister.
