The sub-title of this book reads “Memoranda of a trading trip into the Orange River (sovereignty) Free State, and the country of the Transvaal boers. From December 1851-March 1852”.John Sanderson made a journey by wagon and on horseback from Pietermaritzburg to Harrysmith, from there to Potchefstroom and the Rustenburg district,in the then Transvaal Republic, and back to Pietermaritzburg. What he went for,or what he traded in,is not known,Perhaps it was just a adventure holiday.Very strange.
