Maynier and the First Boer Republic.

£12.00

Who exactly the Maynier was I have difficulty in discovering,it seems to me that he was the original Landrost or Magistrate, put in charge with the setting up of the first Boer Republic in the Cape. The subject of this book is a study of the Eastern Frontier of the Cape colony during the years 1778-1802,the period is one which is in several ways important for it involves the three main sections of society, the Boers, the “free” labourours and the tribal Bantu. It is also a seviour criticsium of the historian Theals historic authouity.
