This book is the results of two expeditions to the great lakes of Kenya and Uganda,with accounts of their biology,native tribes and development.Devided into 16 chapters the author describes the great lakes in the Rift valleys .Their complication by volcanic activity and warping of the earth’s crust.The effect on drainage systems.Most of the lakes are natural reservoirs passing water slowly to the Sudan and Egypt.much is lost on the way through the agency of sudd and papyrus.Man is changing the face of Africa.

H/b in the original boards,with bumped corners and very much edge-worn,top and bot of spine badly rubbed,the remnents of an old lable stuck to faceboard.both front and back hinges cracked and very loose,binding firm but begining to crack,internaly clean throughout,Size 9×6 pp 19+259,inc f/o map at rear,index,appendix,plates including frontispiece,drawings in text,page maps,all e/p’s in a shabby state,some light foxing and generaly age-browned.Internaly nice,but would be nice if rebound.
