This book tells the true story of Helen Joseph an English-born teacher and social worker in South Africa.Although not at all connected with politics,she joined the African National Congress,as a result of what she learnt of the conditions of life among non-Europeans in South Africa,With many others she was arrested and charged with high teason,a capital offence.Her story,of how she was treated in various jails,and of the mass injustice which she had to endure under the Apartheid system of the then South African government.

H/b in nice clean boards,corners slightly bumped,and there is a small bruise or dent to the bottom face board,in a rather tatty illustrated d/w edge-worn with some loss at the spine.Size 9×6 pp 192,various appendixes,no plates text only.Hinges strong.Binding good to firm.No staining or browning,some foxing to the outer edges,but only visible when the book is closed,otherwise nice and clean throughout.
