This book first published in 1880,describes the travels of the author an English traveller-writer,who arrived at Cape Town in March 1878 and leisurely wandered through Natal,the Orange Free State and the Tranvaal.His entertaining and informative observations–on Boer lifestyle and attitudes,on the Bantu societies,on mining and hunting–were published,under the title of Eight Months in a Ox-Waggon.His book is an intriguing panorama of travelogue,anecdote and incident.
