A lovely little novel written by a Dorset aurthor, a true romantic, divided into 2 parts, firstly he writes with the African native in mind, describing his thoughts and dreams, and comparing his environment with that of his own country.”The sounds of Africa, how bitter they are! how fantastic! No singing of thrush or blackbird. The notes of all the birds of Africa are primitive and crude.In part 2 he writes of the freshness of the English countryside. The little children who found a nest of young thrushes. Realy beautifull to read.

h/b in rather tatty dw with some tears but with no loss, boards clean and sharp, size 8×5 pp148 some b/w sketches with a portraite of the author as a frontispiece,hinges firm, binding good, textblock clean and bright throughout .Owners lable on front p/d, a very clean copy, no staining or foxing.Not of African historical value of course, but lovely to read.
