Sir George Cathcart (1794-1854).Govenor of the Cape,was first sent to South Africa in 1852 with the orders to end the 9th Kaffir war.This volume containes his dispatch letters of his progress made,in the termination of the Kaffir war,and to his measures for the future maintenance of peace on that frontier,and the protection and welfare of the people of South Africa,all his despatches were to His Grace Field Marshall,the Duke of Wellington.

H/b,this volume has recently been rebound in brown buckram covered boards,and is now in a nice clean condition,no d/w.Size 9×6 pp 13+401plus 29 pages advertising furthur works by the publishers.No plates text only.5 f/o maps all in good condition.Hinges now new so strong.Binding now very foxing or staining.A few finger marks,mainly in prelims,Slightly age-browned throughout,otherwise a nice clean copy for its age.
