Americans in Black Africa up to 1865

This monograph is second in a series which began with the United States and the African slave trade, between 1619-1862. It is part of a larger general investigation on the United States involvement in Africa. Its purpose has been to set down a general outline of the United Stated activity in Africa. It concentrates on the American aspect of African affairs, not on the African reactions to American merchants, missionaries, and explorers, up until 1865.
