The author an adventurous and closely observant youth of nineteen,in 1889 intermitted his medical studies in Edinburgh to join a party in seach of a prospecting grant from Lobengula.He came out at a critical time.The Rudd Concession had led to the establishment of the B.S.A.Company under Royal Charter.He gets involved in tricky negotiations with the King at a time when the Royal House had to tread very carfully,in order to please the British and also to passify his powerfull Induna’s.He was in a very dangerous position.A study of a thrilling adventurer.

H/b in nice clean boards,in a illustrated d/w,soiled with some chips and small tears and dirty spine.Size 10×8 pp VIII + 192,page map,appendix.No plates as such,but brilliantly illustrated throughout both as chapter headers,and in the text,with some very fine pencil sketches inc frontispiece.Hinges strong .Binding good to firm.There is a pencil signature on the ff/ep.No foxing,or staining,Some age-browning to the end papers Otherwise clean and bright throughout.
