The Transkei is a rugged and beautiful country,roughly three times the area of Wales,lying in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa,southwards from the Natal border,formerly one of the ‘Native Reserves’or ‘Homelands’it was granted independence in 1976.This book is a series of pictures of a young teachers life during the years 1925 to 1950,and tells of impressions and adventures,triumphs and disapointments,comedy and tragedy,friends and fun,that is all part of the day to day life at the St. Cuthberts Mission.
