There are literly hundreds of volumes written on the history of South Africa.This little item written by Dorothea Fairgridge 1862-1931,South African author,she specialised in historical descriptive writing about the early days of the Cape.This small volume set out in 29 chapters,covers just about the whole field of history,as chapter one is entitled “Before the dawn” this covers the early inhabitants,and the great adventurers,the various companies who played a part in the expansion of the first settlement,the various wars,the Voortrekkers the founding of the Boer Republic.It covers all things.



H/b in the original printed boards,corners bumped,ends of spine and edges worn,and some markes to front face board.Size 7×5 pp 16+319,inc,index,plates, inc frontis piece,page maps,illustrations in text.Hinges strong.Binding generally good but cracked at page 240,but nothing serious.A little light foxing to prelims and end papers.The word Jerusalem and date written on f/pd,otherwse nice and clean throughout. A g–v/g clean copy.
