The author,a Rhodesian by adoption,gives a brief introductory survey.He then traces the history of Nothern Rhodesia under British protection from its beginnings to 1953 when the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland came into existence.At the same time he puts the story into that general setting which it requires and devotes some space both to events south of the Zambezi and in Britain itself.
