Africana Books UKRare & Uncommon Books on Africa
“Africana Books” is an uncommon collection of rare African books curated by Alan Painter.
The collection comprises around 2000 volumes and is a serious study into the history of the African continent and it’s various peoples.
Africana Books is a working collection, i.e. all the literature is “readable“, not simply a collection of antiquarian material.
Prices range from as little as £1.00 up to a maximum of £950.
Alan Painter continues to collect material; he buys whatever is readable and of historical interest. This includes Journals & Periodicals which he values highly due to the often unique and valuable information they include. These are also the kind of material that general book dealers won’t stock as they tend to become “shelf sitters”, rarely selling as individual volumes, only as a complete run.
Alan has provided a brief description of many of the volumes, allowing you to quickly and easily find books on specific topics relating to all the various different aspects of Africa and it’s peoples.
